Headache Glasses

relief in sight

Even small misalignments in our eye muscles can cause chronic headaches and migraines, dizziness, light sensitivity, neck pain, dry eye sensation, eye strain, and eye fatigue. At AVC we can treat these symptoms using a technology called contoured prisms.

First we perform a 2-minute test to measure the amount of misalignment in your eyes.  Once we confirm you are a candidate for Neurolenses, your doctor will prescribe your custom contoured prism glasses with your vision prescription, which are typically ready within a week!

neurolens

We are thrilled to announce a technology we recently introduced into our office that has shown to be very successful in giving relief to patients suffering from chronic daily headaches with a technology called Neurolens. Based on our own data as well as from across the country, we have found that approximately 80-90% of neurolens wearers report improvement with symptoms such as headaches, eyestrain, neck pain, indoor light sensitivity and dizziness.

Details of Neurolens

There is a direct correlation between the trigeminal nerve (which is responsible for neck and head sensations) and the eyes. If your eyes are misaligned, this can trigger this nerve excessively and cause headaches, tension, and eye strain.

Neurolens technology corrects issues related to excessive stimulation of the trigeminal nerve by using a special contoured prism to help realign the eyes at all distances. Prisms have been added to prescription lenses for years, but the neurolens technology is the first to use a contoured prism that accounts for misalignment at different distances, both near and far.

We use a specialized measurement device to quantify the amount of misalignment and the degree of the problem. This instrument measures the gap between where your eyes should be aiming and where they actually are pointing. This exam takes about 2 minutes and determines the amount of contoured prism needed for your customized neurolens prescription.

This breakthrough technology can be added to any prescription. It can even be made into non-prescription frames for people who do not have refractive errors.
